It doesn’t matter what he says….

I’d listen to him.

I’m such a sucker for Jude Law, it’s the gosh darn accent.

I’m also a sucker for pop culture.  I love pop music, can’t hardly stand to watch the videos, because who knew Lady Gaga was talking about being incarcerated with half naked people when she was singing Telephone?  I really thought the song was about…her cell phone usage.  Silly me.

Anyway, if I gave one tiny tid-bit of advice on parenting a teen to anyone it would be this: Stay in tune to what is hip.  That doesn’t mean you have to wear the clothes or dance to the music….no wait, you still have to dance to the music, but pay attention to what they are listening to.  So far, I’ve been lucky to have two teenagers that like a wide variety of music.  Ellen listens to just about anything and she knows the lyrics to every song she’s ever heard; it’s weird.  Seth is going through an “I Hate Country Music” phase, but he loves old rock and roll and pop music and a lot of the contemporary Christian music which Ellen and I have a hard time stomaching, I know, how wrong is that?  Sorry, but some of it is just so dang cheesy.  It seems more okay for a pop song to have ridiculous lyrics than for a Christian song.  I have strange standards and now I’m probably going straight to Hell for that one.  Oh well, I’ll sing a Fergie song on my way.
