Please do not tell my team that this is the only sport I really loved.
I was a high jumper and I really liked high jumping, but my problem was……I wasn’t very competitive and I’m still not. I was also the only high jumper on the team, so when I practiced, I was by myself and at the meets, I was by myself. Talk about your individual sport. So, when I jumped well enough to go to regionals I told my coach I wasn’t going. He didn’t put up much of a fight, probably because he had no idea that I was on the team until that moment.
I find myself doing little cheers here and there with my track kids. A couple weeks ago I was working with a very frustrated young man on his high jumping. He missed his height over and over and over until finally he made it and I did a little hurray! He glared at me as he headed out to jump again and grumbled, “I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t treat me like a cheerleader.”
I would love to have a t-shirt that says, “Cheerleader Coach”. I’m just sayin’.

Nothing better than old photos!
…old habits are hard to break
Love the picture!
I love the photos you’ve been sharing. What are you wearing?!:) And your hair is amazing (no seriously, I have fine, limp, brown hair so…hair envy)
you have pretty legs
April, I hope you realize what an absolute stunning woman you are! And your daughter really resembles you. Love the old photos!
I think I would have loved cheerleading too, only I wasn’t popular enough to make the team.
I only have about two photos of me actually cheering. I love that someone captured you in the moment. Priceless.
Oh, and I just remembered. I have an old photo of me in my cheerleader uniform with my boyfriend (hubby now)posted on my blog.

Don’t laugh.
I agree with Liz above, you are stunning! But I also wanted to mention that the pictures to the left, the drawing of your family, are hilarious! Where’d you get them? Are you going to talk about it or what?
I love how the uniform is all blousey and modest on top and super short on the bottom. Weren’t the winter ones even better? Sweater on top and legs hanging out in the cold! I’m jealous of your long legs!
