The moon bit me!

Picture 131

When Clay and I went to our daughter’s formal last week, we had a wee bit of fun.  It is impossible for us to act too serious in situations where a moon and satin fabric are involved.  This photo is the most normal of the bunch.  Get this…I’m too embarrassed to post the others, I know!  So rare for me.  Can I also mention that it only took two dances for us to get all sweaty?  So yes, this is a photo of us all hot and sweaty with satin sheets and a sparkly moon.  This blog is now rated R.

Anyway, let’s talk about that moon.  When Clay went to sit down for our little sweaty/satin sheet photo session, he planted his leg squarely on the tip of that moon which must have been made out of titanium.  He calmly mentioned something about thinking he tore his pants, but never mentioned that on the inside he was screaming in pain.  The next morning as he came wandering in our room from his shower I saw the nastiest black bruise the size of a grapefruit on the back of his leg, “OH MY GOSH!  What the heck did you do to your leg?!”  And that’s when he looked back at his leg for the first time and stated, “Oh, yeah…that’s where the moon bit me.  It hurt pretty bad.”

Okay, Okay,  because I love you all so much and because I have no idea how or why this blog was nominated for Best Kept Secret in the 2010 Bloggies…I’ll share just a peek of one more photo…

Yeah…I promise the punch was not spiked, but my heels were.  And one more thing,  if Clay is in pain here, with that face, what do you think he looks like when he’s trying to make a really happy face?  I’m wondering if the school will allow us to come to another dance?

Seriously, thank you all for the sweet comments over the years.  I love hearing from all of you.  I love your opinions and questions and comments and concerns and well wishes and scorns and giggles and praises and finger shakes and sighs and, and, and well….I just love all of it.  You all keep this site going.  Thank you friends.  Thank you for nominating Coal Creek Farm, my little home away from home.  The door is always open for all of you.

You can click the button up there on the right and it will lead you to the 2010 Weblog Awards site where you can view all the nominations and vote for your favorites.  There are so many familiar faces there this year, it’s fun to see.  Voting closes January 31st.

  • I voted for you for Best Kept Web Secret – I love your web site and hit it a couple of times a day checking for updates (I’m more of a lurker than a commenter). I enjoy your humor and obvious devotion to your family. I used to enjoy your sister’s site as well but whatever happened to her doesn’t translate well on her blog and I will not be visiting there again – such anger, snide comments and meaness are not for me.

    • Voted. Good luck.

I’ll check out her blog in your place. I don’t see much anger, snide comments and meanness compared to when I’ve seen some others come out as non-theists. She should turn on the comments just so we could see the anger, snide comments and meanness come in from the theists (I trust it wouldn’t be from any of her friends). She’ll mellow out soon enough, but it’s important for her to make sure her feelings are known. I, for one, look forward to her blogging about everyday stuff going on around her, knowing what her perspective is.

    I voted for you!

Also, I admire and commend you so, so much for remaining silent on Rechelle’s situation (sorry…I don’t know what else to call it). It seems that some people are really wanting you to trash your sister, or at least enter into the discussion, but you have remained above it all. That, to me, is what a good sister does. I know my sister and I can fight like cats and dogs, and I can say whatever I want about her, but let somebody else speak badly of her, and I will take their head off!

This is purely my opinion, but I find it a bit rude that some people come here to your blog to comment on Rechelle’s, just because they’re denied the satisfaction of making negative comments there.

Anyway…good luck, and if I could vote for you again, I would!

      Hello,
I totally agree with what you say. Rechelle has the right the think what she wants to think, and to say what she wants to say.
Once, we had secret diary, with a little key to let no one read what we have wrote. Today, we have blog… The difference is that anyone can read us, and worst … judge us. If what Rechelle write can shock some people, they just have to not return on her blog. Point.
But it seems to be very unsane to try to make her sister talk about her.
I’m sorry if my english is difficult to be understood.
Thank you for what you wrote.

  • My first thought was “Poor Ellen!!”
Then it was quickly followed by “Lucky Ellen!”

I would have given anything if my parents had loved each other a fraction of how much you and Clay love one another.
Thanks for the funny and happy post. :)
