Me- Honey, you know what a Flowbee is don’t you?
Clay- What’s a Flowbee?
Me- You’ve never heard of a Flowbee?
Clay- I don’t understand.
Me- A Flowbee! A Flowbee, you know a Flowbee!
Clay- Are you making that up?
Me- No! It’s the hair cutting thing.
Clay- That’s like me saying, “Hey April, have you ever heard of Zarcod, you know Zarcod…ZARCOD! ” I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about! It doesn’t matter how many times you say Flowbee it means nothing to me.
And that my friends was enough to send me into hysterical fits of laughter. I’m so glad that after twenty years there are still things I don’t know about Clay and apparently we’ve never talked about the world famous Flowbee.
Now, who out there has never seen a Flowbee commercial when you were growing up? Clay needs to know he’s not alone and that he didn’t grow up deprived of this fabulous infomercial.

The Flowbee is one of those things that never leaves you–once you’ve seen the commercial it stays in your subconscious and pays you visits when you least expect it.
Plug in your vacuum and show Clay what it’s all about.
Clay isn’t familiar with Wayne’s World either?
Every time I hear of Flowbee I think of the Suck Kut on Wayne’s World. “Turn it off man, turn it off! It’s sucking my will to live! Oh, the humanity!”
Sorry Clay, I have to give this one to April. The Flowbee was a very popular item. We didn’t own one but it was once as popular as the Snuggie is now.
I am 50 and I must admit I have never seen a “Flowbee” commercial. Now I have heard of the contraption but I didn’t know that is what it is called. I must have been sledding down a grassy hill on cardboard when that was on–did you ever do that? Why don’t our kids do that- it was so much fun! Tell Clay it is “okay” and he shouldn’t feel deprived–he hasn’t missed much! Got to go take the “girls” out (our 3 hens, they won’t come out of their coop with the snow on the ground!
I have never heard of this hair cutting product you speak of.
But Merry Christmas, just the same!
I have never heard of it either . . . must not have been on one of the two channels we had growing up . . . Merry Christmas!!
Clay – I am on your side!
I’m with you Clay!
Are you guys keeping score here?
I hope there’s a Flowbee under the tree for someone in your house!
Oh how funny! I never saw the commercials but I DO know what it is and, in fact, just the other day I saw someone with a horrible haircut and I said to my husband, “They must have used a Flowbee!” And I was thrilled when my children saw a Chia Pet commercial and asked for one this week! Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia! Merry Christmas, All!
How funny!! I was just talking about the Flowbee this week with some friends!!
That Flowbee guy looks like he’s gotten into some teeth whitening. A Flowbee haircut and pearly whites are the way to go.
The FLOWBEE!!!! Love it in our house – SERIOUSLY! My husband bought it off an infomercial probably 12 years ago and I chewed him out for it since most infomercial items are “CWAP”! Let’s just say I’ve been eating crow for all of those 12+ years. The Flowbee is awesome and has saved us an absolute TON of money! My kids are now 13, 10 & 6, and they’ve always been able to use it themselves if they wanted to & I don’t have to worry about it LOOKING like they’ve cut their own hair ~ looks great every time!
Nope, never heard of it. How many is that for Clay now?
heard of it–yes, seen a commercial about it–no……
I’m on Clay’s team . . . never even heard of it. But if it actually works (?), I wanna know where to get one ’cause I’ve cut my husband’s hair for 46 years now and have always hated the job!
I don’t know what a Zarcod is but i still want a flowbee. Our lab loves to be vacuumed and what better way to get rid of that shedding winter fur than to vacuum and cut at the same time.
I am in Clay’s camp – never heard of this and never saw the infommercial. (I am in my extremely late 50′s) My husband taught our kids to enjoy the wackiness of infommercials. Fortunately he never actually buys any of the junk.
Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, p.j.
Not only have I heard of one, I owned one…loved it.
flowbee.com and there is an attachment for dogs.
Sorry, Clay. I’ve seen the commercials too many times!
I am 54 and I have never seen a “Flowbee” commercial so I’m with Clay on this one.
I’m sorry, but I can’t BELIEVE there are still people in the world that haven’t heard of the Flowbee!! Wow, Clay, you have so much to learn!
Heck yes! And my best girlfriend HAS one and used to cut her husband and boys’ hair with it. We would dissolve in fits of laughter!!!!!
Dude. We had a flowbee when I was growing up.
My husband thought it was a vacuum cleaner! But at least he had heard of it!
I bought something like this for grooming the poodles. You hooked it up to a vacuum so the fur/hair would be sucked into the vac bag-not dropped on to the floor. The minute I got it all hooked up, ready to go and turned the motor on–the dogs ran to the other side of the house. I then gave it to another dog owner.
I’m with Clay too. Never heard of it!
What about the Bedazzler? =)
My husband has one and uses it all the time. He believes he bought it in 1993 and it is well used and a source of pride for him. I do not use it, no matter how often he offers to get it out for me. No thank you, dearest heart of mine. No thank you.
What!? Never heard of a flowbee?? Come on!
oooo I have heard of it!!! As I remember it hooks up to the vacuum and sucks the hair in and somehow cuts it at the prescribed length!!
It ranks up there with the spray on hair that covers the bald spot in the back of men’s heads….rendering the “comb-over” obsolite!!!
I’ll have you know that there are two people in my world who still use the thing to cut their hair. I didn’t know they still could get them.
Flowbee?? Huh?? Don’t worry, Clay, you’re not the only ignorant one!
Merry Christmas, anyway.
Never heard of it …. but I am in Canada where sanity reigns.
Anybody that is anybody has heard of a Flowbee. Geesh! Your conversation sounds like our daily conversations of 33 years. Good times!
Nope, I have never heard of a Flowbee and I am in my early 50′s. So I am another vote on Clay’s side.
Oh my gosh! My husband just asked me if we could get one so we could save money on haircuts! I laughed and told him they probably don’t even make them anymore. I HOPE THEY DON’T!
I’ve heard of a Flowbee, AND I have to share… My aunt used to work on a local TV station where someone brought in a Flowbee. No one wanted their haircut, so being the fun loving person she is, she volunteered to have her haircut on TV. They cut her hair to about an inch long all the way around. She went from having shoulder length hair to a boy cut. Luckily she looked cute with her new short hair, but it took her about 2 weeks of cursing “the DAMN FLOWBEE!” before she accepted it. LOL
My friend actually has a Flowbee. They use it to groom the dogs
Wayne’s World, Wayne’s World, Party-time, Excell-ent!
>Cue guitar solo
You definitely need to get Clay to watch Wayne’s world, although it’s much funnier if you’re Canadian, eh? There are a lot of subtle Canadianisms in there thanks to Mike Meyers.
It’s a classic.
And, yes, we had flowbee commercials up here in Canada, too. I remember them fondly.
