I am a huge fan of Kansas potter, Steve Coburn. He makes practical and affordable items like the big coffee mug I use nearly everyday. I have a white one that I love and at one time I had a blue one, but I left it at my old pottery studio in St. Louis…how ironic is that? I love to run my fingers along the bottom of this mug and up and down the ridges, it’s a great tactile item for people that like to feel art.
During the last two weeks I spent a lot of time going back and forth to school and running errands for my job. My mug was always with me.
As well as my stash of granola bars. My door became a trash receptacle for wrappers, which is probably why I had one stuck in my shoe at P-Dub’s book signing, yeah…classy, me, uh-huh.
My mug and me, happy we be.
Look at my van, it says so much. That’s another mug that I made for Clay on the floor, I don’t like it as much as my Coburn mug, but it’ll do in a pinch. Wipes, tissues and paper towels….hm, kind of leads a person to think that we’re messy or always wiping a snotty nose. Okay, yes, we’re messy and I always need to blow my nose….like ten times a day, leave me alone, I can’t help it.
I also can’t help sharing my morning coffee and my granola bar with the thing in the back seat.
And I can’t help sharing one of these mugs with you. That’s right brothahs and sistahs…it’s another Coal Creek Farm treat!

Your mug is just the right size to hold a LOT OF COFFEE! It would be perfect for that “thing” that sits in the front seat.
I love coffee mugs-especially a good travel one! Also, is Clay ever going to update again?
My husband always says it looks like I live in my car. But I need all the stuff that is in it on a regular basis! I would love to add a coffee mug to my collection
Dinah
Love the mug. My morning coffee would taste great in that!
Nothing like a nice, big coffee mug for the first morning coffee! Love the mugs!
I love pottery mugs! I love pottery.
What a great shaped mug and just look at all those ripples for running cold hands up and down….. I would have to fill it with steaming tea though
milk no sugar LOL
x
uuuuhhhhh!!! I loves the mug! It seems as though it could hold a vast amount of java! Just my style!
Thanks for the tip–even if I don’t win your contest I might have to hunt one down on my own!
Love it….it would look great in my car!
Great mug, love it! Also love your site with all your adventures, heh.
I love pottery mugs with handles that I can wrap my fingers around. I have one that only allows two fingers–not the best!
How fun–a give away! I think we all have a slightly better chance here then we do on PW’s sight.
Don’t you know if you let your baby drink coffee it will “stunt his growth”. (That’s what my mom used to say and I’m 5’12″ like you lol)
That’s a beautiful mug! My husband is the coffee/tea drinker around her, so I would probably give it to him as a gift.
Thanks for the chance to win it!
Hi April! Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. Always can count on you to give me a laugh! Thanks for the giveaway – this is fun!
Happy Sunday!
I love dishes and pottery. This would be a great addition to my growing collection!
What a beautiful mug! I love handmade pottery…and I love your blog!
My rig does not have cup holders but I would love to have one of those brown and beautiful coffe mugs anyway. My coffee sits between my legs every morning on my way to work.
I’ve never had a problem with drugs, but I’m pretty certain I have an addiction to coffee mugs. Unless you know of a rehab center to fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate another mug.
What a fabulous mug! I, too, love the ripples to run your fingers along. Your site is bookmarked and I’ve lurked for months but this is my first comment. I really enjoy your husband’s (infrequent) contributions. LOL
I think my dad would love it!! I’m not much on coffee…
i love the coffee mug! i’m a pottery-aholic, i can admit it!
Oooo purdy! I love pottery. But not coffee. I bet it would make my chai or my green tea take fabulous as well though!
ooh! I do love a good piece of pottery!
Hey, Ho, I love pottery!
I do love that mug and even better, your endorsement. I prefer items that other people have used and loved. Of course, I would need more than one because I too have coffee loving boys, four of them to be exact, which is why I now drink only decaf. I love that your little guy likes coffee. My boys were preschoolers when I let them have a sip and found that they each loved coffee! I though mine were the only ones.
Love your blog, love that mug! Looks like it would hold a lot of coffee. Perfect!
One Christmas I made mug sets for my whole family, four mugs a piece. This was when I first started throwing and it was exhausting lol! Lets just say the mugs were definately not all identical =) I loved the glaze though, it was this beautiful iron drip glaze over a bright red underglaze..oh those were the days..I have never been able to order that glaze again, they discontinued it.
But anyways, like you, I would definately prefer a texturzied, earthy, simple ceramic mug for my morning coffee to one of those hip stainless steel mugs any day.
Nothing like waking up with a rich cup of coffee contained within a beautiful art piece to start your day-this would make it hard not to smile.
April,
I want a pottery mug! I promise I will think of you everytime I use it – and I will use it most mornings!
I’m having pumpkin pie for breakfast. There, I told someone. Now I don’t have to carry this guilt around any longer.
I love the shape of the mug! I’m using one I purchase while in Taos, NM and although I use it every day, it doesn’t do well in the car because of the wide mouth on it. I managed to hit a bump while holding it and spilled half of it in my crotch just before walking in to my kids school. I’m thinking a better travel mug is moving to the top of my “must have” list!
I love your blog almost as much as I love coffee.
Hi! New to you your site and love it! I came over from Provident Woman. Thanks for such a great giveaway
I love handmade pottery!
Hey, Ho, I totally love pottery!! And give-aways. Free pottery’s my favorite!
I have quite a few local potters that I have collections of their works!! mugs, bowls, soap dishes and just what nots!! I love the substancial feeling of pottery!!
It has class and personality!!!
My coffee cup collection is made up of pottery mugs. Each one is unique. The first one I purchase in college in a Christmas pottery sale. I bought it not knowing that one of my own very talented room mates was the artist.
Now, I think of her each morning while drinking my coffee.
I love stopping by here! You’ve made me laugh out loud so many times!!
Beautiful mug!
The pictures of your van are calendar-worthy.
Love the earthy mug. Thanks for sharing.
love you humor and need that mug! I have 3 boys and am forever having to refill mine each morning…
mmm, I could use a new car mug!
I’m in Nebraska — not too far from you, probably. I’ve been drinking lots and LOTS of hot chocolate lately, and will also sip away at peppermint tea on a cold morning.
I’m so glad that my car isn’t the only one filled with tissues, wipes, and paper towels. Throw crushed Cheerios and melted crayons on the floor and it’ll look just like mine!
Coffee is my key to survival! thanks for the lovely giveaway!
Cool mug
great looking mug!
Your van is so clean compared to our truck. /blush

My thing and I could both use this mug. I love it. I need it. I want it.
love pottery — each piece looks alike, but each is sooo different — my hubby would love a mug like that for his desk at work.
I love your site! I love the mug! It would be great for my morning tea.
