I am a huge fan of Kansas potter, Steve Coburn. He makes practical and affordable items like the big coffee mug I use nearly everyday. I have a white one that I love and at one time I had a blue one, but I left it at my old pottery studio in St. Louis…how ironic is that? I love to run my fingers along the bottom of this mug and up and down the ridges, it’s a great tactile item for people that like to feel art.
During the last two weeks I spent a lot of time going back and forth to school and running errands for my job. My mug was always with me.
As well as my stash of granola bars. My door became a trash receptacle for wrappers, which is probably why I had one stuck in my shoe at P-Dub’s book signing, yeah…classy, me, uh-huh.
My mug and me, happy we be.
Look at my van, it says so much. That’s another mug that I made for Clay on the floor, I don’t like it as much as my Coburn mug, but it’ll do in a pinch. Wipes, tissues and paper towels….hm, kind of leads a person to think that we’re messy or always wiping a snotty nose. Okay, yes, we’re messy and I always need to blow my nose….like ten times a day, leave me alone, I can’t help it.
I also can’t help sharing my morning coffee and my granola bar with the thing in the back seat.
And I can’t help sharing one of these mugs with you. That’s right brothahs and sistahs…it’s another Coal Creek Farm treat!

As I am not a coffee drink (don’t hold that against me) I would appreciate the mug as the beautiful piece of art it is
You’re right, that is a great mug! I also really like the spot for your thumb on Clay’s mug. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
If I win this I will have to fight my husband over it. Maybe I should just give it to him in the first place?
Thanks for the chance to win, April.
Since finding your blog I am a faithful follower, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, lOVE THE MUG.
I used to have a mug similar that I loved.
Your posts are a shinny moment when so many other are quiet, not that I blame them of course, just because I am lame and have computer time on the holiday weekend…
Anyway..have a Great Day!
I too have a favorite mug. In fact I love it so much I have two of them, just the same.
My nephew is a potter: http://www.etsy.com/shop/etcArts
I love pottery mugs…Stayed at a master potters B&B in the mountains of VA…wonderful. All his beautiful treats decorated the house…:-)
Can never have too many mugs!
Love your blog. You and your family are a hoot!
Have a Merry Christmas!!
Laurie
Hey!!! Pick me, pick me!! I love me some big coffee mugs!!
This would be the most perfect mug for my husband. Being major coffee drinkers I would love to have a cup like that in our arsenal.
Dear April,
It would be only fitting that you pick me since I am your biggest, BIGGEST (do you hear me?) fan. Please.
Hopefully the thing in the back seat is just “mugging” for the camera and not really drinking coffee.
I love pottery. I want to to make pottery. But since that isn’t going to happen right now, I would love to win this one. : ) Thank you.
Hallloooooo!!! I would love one!! : )
I’d love a mug! We collect them here. I used to live in Kansas once upon a time….
I once tried to do that whole pottery wheel thing in a college course. Thought I was doing pretty good until the clay flew right off the wheel and hit the wall. Not good. Would love to win this mug! :~P
Love the mug!
Not a coffee drinker but my cocoa would like a mug.
Well, aren’t you sweet! I’d love a mug for my hot tea addiction.
I’m not as big a fan of pottery as I am of your blog, but my hand is singing to wrap itself around that mug.
Hm. . .Guess this means that Damn Ramsay (Ramsey?) is working? I hope so. I so dislike looking at deprived chillun’s. Especially ones drinking coffee in their plush booster seats in the back of their Mom’s vans. (You told him he could be walking with you to school, right? Uphill? Both ways? With no shoes? Just rags to tie around his feet?) Happy season of gratitude dear friend in my computer.
That mug would look so good on my dashboard.
I love big honkin coffee mugs! I love the feel and they are just so comfy especially in the winter
If anyone else says they’re your biggest fan, don’t beleive it,it’s meeee! It’s actually to early for more kissing up.All I’ll say is, I love your blog,I love pottery and I love(and need)coffee!I used to live near Bennington pottery in Vermont.Beautiful stuff!Mostly chipped and cracked by my rowdy family. The fact that I still have a little after 30yrs. speaks to it’s durability!Anyway, April, did you get many bargains Friday?
Oh yes! I’m a new potter and I love making mugs!
I love pottery!
Love the mug, perfect for a nice cup a tea in the afternoon
Don’t feel bad, I too have tissues, wet wipes and paper towels in my van. That’s why we have vans – to carry around all the gear.
The mug is wonderful and I would love to win it. We have a few mugs we bought at fairs and art shows and this one would be a great addition to those.
Mmm, lovely pottery mug and coffee. Perfect.
Very nice!
I’d love to win this! Very cool, very practical! Thanks for the opportunity.
Kari
Wow! 82 comments already? Both of those mugs are gorgeous, April. I really like the thumb spot on the one you made for Clay. A mug has feel right as well as look good for me, which means it has to have the right heft, the right size and shape handle, and the right kind of lip. Those look perfect.
That’s a beautiful mug–the hand-made mugs are always best. I had one with a sculptural face on it, but the bits all fell off and then the entire thing broke. So sad. (It would be very nicely replaced by one of Steve’s!)
I love pottery and have a few pieces that my family member with talent made for me. My talents lie elsewhere…I sure wish I could find them!!
I would love a mug! Thank you very much for the giveaway!!!
Love your blog!! I’m sure the mug would hold sweet tea just fine. Keep the faith. Kathy from Alabama
What a great giveaway! My coffee would look extra yummy in a handcrafted mug. ;0)
Love pottery – I started collecting pieces as vacation souvenirs. I have a pitcher from the Black Hills in TN and some other small bowls. I have a pretty round vase – buffalo hair pottery – from our trip to South Dakota. The mug would be great! I love watching the potter work on a potting wheel – fascinates me!
Love the mug! That would be perfect for holding my morning coffee.
I love this mug!!! Looks like it holds a bunch of coffee! Put me in the drawing please!!! Good luck to everyone!
That’s a beautiful mug! My car looks so much like your van, it’s possible we might get them confused in a parking lot.
Love your blog, love coffee, love the mug
Have a great day April
That would make a great Christmas gift for the hubs. And, even though we live in Michigan, he is from Independence, Kansas, Home of Neewollah. By the way, I am glad I am not the only one with a messy car! My husband seems to think I am.
I collect coffee mugs. I love coffee!!!
Well, I put a new coffee mug on my Christmas list . . . this is just meant to be, right?
My van looks quite a bit like yours, albeit with a larger pile of trash but I am convinced the gorgeous mug would spruce it up!
What a great mug! I love a tall one I can warm my hands on!
I lovve the mug. I always wanted to try making thing on a potter’s wheel but haven’t gotten around to it somehow.
I love pottery, reading you blog and coffee.
