I am a huge fan of Kansas potter, Steve Coburn. He makes practical and affordable items like the big coffee mug I use nearly everyday. I have a white one that I love and at one time I had a blue one, but I left it at my old pottery studio in St. Louis…how ironic is that? I love to run my fingers along the bottom of this mug and up and down the ridges, it’s a great tactile item for people that like to feel art.
During the last two weeks I spent a lot of time going back and forth to school and running errands for my job. My mug was always with me.
As well as my stash of granola bars. My door became a trash receptacle for wrappers, which is probably why I had one stuck in my shoe at P-Dub’s book signing, yeah…classy, me, uh-huh.
My mug and me, happy we be.
Look at my van, it says so much. That’s another mug that I made for Clay on the floor, I don’t like it as much as my Coburn mug, but it’ll do in a pinch. Wipes, tissues and paper towels….hm, kind of leads a person to think that we’re messy or always wiping a snotty nose. Okay, yes, we’re messy and I always need to blow my nose….like ten times a day, leave me alone, I can’t help it.
I also can’t help sharing my morning coffee and my granola bar with the thing in the back seat.
And I can’t help sharing one of these mugs with you. That’s right brothahs and sistahs…it’s another Coal Creek Farm treat!

Hey Ho – I love pottery – and your blog – and the thing in the back seat.
I love the pottery mug!! Becky
Hey there! I read your blog often. I found you through PW, but we are pretty close, in distance. I too, was a city girl, gone country. I met a small town boy, got married and moved an hour west of St Louis. Here I am, reading blogs, attempting my own, living on a farm and raising a family. Even though I only have 1 child at this point, I can say, that I think the rural way of life is an amazing way to raise a child. more than you wanted?
I love pottery. And I love Coal Creek! And the thing in the back seat with the cutie pie face. Behind the mug that I love. I love pottery! Did I say that already??
That is a beautiful pottery mug. The thing in the back seat has beautiful blue eyes.
Hi! You make me smile. I’d love the mug. I am a tea girl though. Have a good day.
LOVE the mug. I just recently found your blog from a link on the PW site. So is there much work for architects where you are? My hubby is looking for a job.
Hey – love pottery and Ho – love coffee. Funny, your thing in the back seat looks suspiciously like my nephew thing I just visited over Thanksgiving…they’re both adorable!
Oh I would love a mug! My travel mugs just aren’t doing it for me at this point at all…
Love you up here in Nebraska. You inspire me.
me! me! pick me! i love original art that I can enjoy daily.
What a great mug! I love drinking hot cocoa from fun-looking mugs. My husband teases me for it.
I grew up south of the KC area in a cozy, rural town. My parents still live there, as do my in-laws, who live on a farm and have cows. I’d love to have a farm one day.
Love the look of those. I too love to have the RIGHT coffee mug in the morning, it makes the day better:)
Velly nice mug. But it looks like it doesn’t fit in the cup holder!
I’ll take one anyway!
You have a beautiful mug
Coffee always tastes better in a cool mug, right?
Coffee, no, no! I would fill it with homemade hot chocolate mix! Yum, Yum!
*Lynnette
What a beautiful mug! I love handmade pottery AND coffee – been drinking it since I was the age of your thing in the backseat there. Not saying how long that’s been though.
What a beautiful mug. Thanks for the opportunity to win one.
oooh, I love it. Looks big, too!
I’m way picky about coffee mugs. Has to hold a decent amount, and not dribble when I sip. Maybe it’s me that dribbles?
anyway, here’s hoping!
I’m guessing yours is the green. Why, oh why doesn’t he ridge the light blue one?
My nephew is supposed to make a big mug to give to me for Christmas, but until it’s in my hands, I’m not holding my breath. Don’t you hate to drink coffee out of a “to go” cup?
From one sometime potter to another-there really is no greater complement than saying you have such a serious love affair with a mug. I had no idea you were a potter! I love me a good mug-and hearing another potter finds it indespensible means its a really GOOD mug. This guy should be very proud!
Hi! I read your blog all the time. I used to live in Kansas actually. Nevermind that. Let’s get to this mug. I need it. I live in upstate NY, near the Canadian border. That means I deal with ice scrapers, snow blowers, the best shovel money can buy, and ice salt pretty much on a daily basis through the winter. Know what would make it all better? If I could shovel snow, snow blow/scrap/chip/dust/build with a special mug filled with a hot beverage of my choice. Or yours. I’ll let you choose what goes in it!
Coffee in a pretty mug – ahhhhh, starts the morning right! Please send it my way! Love the blog…and that’s just not kissin’ up!
Howdy doo, good neighbor!
That is a cool mug! I used to have cool mugs like that. I broke them moving to texas….. Oh well.
Oh la la of a mug and yes, an honest to goodness pottery gal.
Burp…. oh excuse me – too much TURKEY. Pick me! That mug is beautiful!
I HAVE to have something to drink with me all the time–so I really, really need this beautiful mug!
Hey, that would be perfect for my morning cup of coffee in the hot tub. Love it.
I love that mug and the children keep breaking all of mine, ugh! lol
I have always wanted to try my hand at pottery. My kids did, and did pretty good, but it’s one craft I haven’t been able to try yet.
I love all the pottery my kids have made for me.
I’m not a coffee lover, but I do love a great mug! How incredibly talented of you! My friend did some pottery a while back. My favorite thing she made was a teapot that looked like a brain!
A pottery mug would be great! And I enjoy your blog.
I collect unique and usable coffee mugs, and yes, I use every one of them. I found your site thru Pioneer Woman/Ree, and enjoy being here with you. Thanks for the contests. T
Well, hello there!
Originally from NY, I’m living on a farm in Ireland where they just don’t respect coffee the way they should. Tea, tea, tea. Please send me the mug and I’ll show them how to drink coffee all day long while errands and taking care of a house full of people (17 people !!!)
Your blog always makes my day. Thanks for sharing. It’s great!
I used to live in KS before my astronomer husband moved me to New Mexico. I love your blog because it reminds me of home! I’d love a mug too, if it comes to that. Keep up all your good work, wherever all it takes you.
Well, I’m on the other side of the world right now. If I win will you send it to my other mother?
I love pottery. Wish I could learn to make it. Love the earthiness of it.
Tell Clay I miss his stories.
Love the mug!!! My pottery has remained flat up until now, maybe I’ll make a bowl this week. It’s a start.
I love pottery! I took a class once to throw a pot, but alas, the wheel was broken. Maybe this mug would be just right for me.
I need another coffee mug like I need a hole in my head!
I am very picky about what my coffee goes into in the morning. I like the look of your mug…thanks for the opportunity! =)
I love your blog! You remind me of me.
I would like a mug too, so enter me to win.
I wish I was artistic….
