I don’t know what he’s taking, but all of the sudden he’s gardening and he’s writing like a mad man. Actually, I think he’s becoming me. Last week he announced, “I’m writing the story of how we met.” Well, okay then. He has bugged me for a long time to write about our early years and I’ll start something and then a chicken needs doctoring or I find out how to use coupons or I spy a butterfly…looky the pretty wittle butterfly. Right, I get distracted, but more often I just want to write about what is on my mind or happening right now. So, the early years pop up once in a great while, but to sit down and intentionally try to rewind my thoughts to our beginning, well, that just hurts my head. So, Clay has taken on this challenge with great gusto and enthusiasm.
As I’ve read through the first few installments, I’ve laughed, winced and cried. I’m married to him, so of course I know how wonderful he is, but you can’t help but have a strong admiration of this man after you read how he started his adult life. I fell in love with a boy a long time ago and now that boy is a man telling his story. How we met Part I can be found under The Stories in Clay’s Life, I’ll update here every time he posts a new entry.

It’s good to revisit the memories once in a while. It helps to examine who we are and how we got to be who we are. It’s wonderful that your husband wants to write that stuff down for you. Not necessarily for the blog (which is entertaining for us but not the best reason) but really great for your kids! Someday they will really care about reading it though they may not now.
I just posted some traveling memories on my blog and then spent an hour reminiscing with my daughter about it by phone. It was somehow really cathartic!
Wonderful! Cant wait to click over and read it…..looks like your getting a new flowerbed?
Okay..I love Clay..just as much as your next reader..but..when you said he was “taking over”..I thought the new job got the best of you..and you were bowing out on us…sigh…phew..don’t scare me like that April!! I love this His and Hers blog thing…..But..you make me laugh…and I need a good laugh often..Clay does too..but..it’s a guy kinda laughing…you know..when you laugh at them..and not with them…just kidding….maybe.
Don’t worry Helena, I’m not going anywhere. I’m just happy he finally got a writing bug. He’s not interested in taking over or getting his own blog he just likes to dink around on this one.
I think Clay needs his own official moniker. How about we dub him the “Coal Creek Farmer”?
Love it! thanks for sharing!
I love being able to read both of your perspectives!
I’m looking forward to reading all this. You are both so hilarious!
Can I mention that I LOVE the boards under your porch? What are those called, Clay? They must have some architectural term. Most people I know have lattice. You have the cutest stylized flower thingies. It’s not really fair.
love, love, love your blog!!!

Now that sounds like some good reading! Will get round to reading his story, but not now at the crack of dawn. Must.get.coffee.first.
nothing to do with Clay at least I don’t think so. I love the design under your porch. Where did the pattern come from?
OOOHHHHH, I’m going to love this story.
