I have a little boy. His name is Ike.
He asks a lot of questions about this world. He’s trying awfully hard to figure out what and why and how come things do the things they do. I found myself explaining pressure to him the other day and then volcanoes and then he asked me if he came out of my belly button. Sometimes I have to tell him he can ask two more questions and then he needs to find something else to do, mostly because my ears need a break and my brain hurts from working so hard to answer his difficult questions.
I never know what’s going on inside that giant light bulb shaped head of his. Sometimes he gets upset when he can’t get his big head out of a shirt, but then he starts laughing when the shirt is pulling his upper lip over his nose and willingly admits, “I’ve got a big honkin’ head!”
He’s a very sweet, gentle, laid back kid…..with lots of questions. I like my Ike.

He is such a mix of you both! What a sweetie…sounds like hes your “thinker”. 2 of mine have “melons”, shirts used to pull on ears & make honkin noses! How’s the new job working out?
I hope he continues to ask questions throughout his life. He’ll never be bored, and he’ll make the most of life.
My daughter has a big honkin’ head also. There should be a club.
have a great week,
muddy
And, he’s so dadgum cute! Yeah, the questions; I remember my granddaughter at that age wanting me to explain “tricity”.
What a great kid. What a great trait to able to laugh at oneself. I wonder who he gets that trait from?
What a cutie! Boys are just a ton of fun.
What a sweet boy:o) My brother has a big head, too. Maybe that’s where all the extra imagination is stored.
I have one like that.
I had another one like that who’s grown up now. He’s still too curious for his own good.
Hey, April. We butchered our chickens and I blogged about it. Come and see!
Ike seems to have lost his baby face. He’s looking so much older now. He’s still cute but much more handsome.
I have some big-headed kids, too. About 2 out of 7 have ginormous heads! One even had CT scans because the doctor was concerned. When CT scan revealed nothing I showed the doctor a picture of my big-headed grandpa he ended the testing. “Yup…just a big-headed kid…must run in the family.”, he said. : )
My kind of kid. And a pretty good-looking one, too. Does he play baseball?
I accidentally mentioned you on my blog today, if you wanna take a look.
What a cutie pie! Oh, how I miss those little boy questions when they think that their mom knows everything in the world!
Both my boys have huge heads and have the same shirt problem. This year my oldest played soccer and the day he got his soccer jersey we both looked at it and laughed ‘cuz there was no way his head was gonna fit through that thing! (It finally did after a little pulling and tugging!) My oldest is my thinker and my non-stop talker and asker of questions. Your post is near to my heart!
I remember drawing pictures to explain to my 2 nieces (who were about 5 & 6 at the time) why it rained…It was a day when it was pouring & they couldn’t go out to play. Just telling them that God thought that things needed watering wasn’t a good enough explaination!
Your Ike sounds a LOT like my Emmi. At age four she had nighbmares about my sisters baby coming out of her belly button, so we had to have a talk about where they really come out of…. AT AGE FOUR!!!
She too asks questions hourly, sometimes minute-ly. My head wants to explode at times. I’m good with the questions, most of them anyway. What I always struggle with is the questions that really aren’t age appropriate.
Because of that I have to water down a ton of my answers to her, and she has gotten used to the phrase “I’ll tell you when you are older.”
It doesn’t keep her from waiting a week and asking again.
LOL
Your Ike is so sweet. Don’t you just love little boys? I have three (and one daughter) and they are the sweetest, most lovable, stinkist things ever!
We like Ike too. He’s the perfect combo of smart and sweet and fun.
Boys can be so great!
I have one of those! Sweet gentle curious boy – I am constantly getting, “Mom, did ja ever wonder…….” and I know something interesting is coming….I love it.
What a handsome young man…love the deep thinkers..
My Seth is that way too…(even has the big head)..
always been my punkin head…
The big head thing struck a nerve. I have a big head AND thick hair. I once wanted to buy a wig to surprise an old boyfriend and the nice, tiny, Asian lady at the wig shop said I could get a wig for about $100. Then she actually started feeling my head and said, “You head is not so small, wig for you is $400.” It was the joke that never happened, but the story when told in person brings down the house. Thanks for the memory jolt!!
Aww, he’s so sweet! I love the boy questions – that’s what the big head is for I think. I had to explain centrifugal force to my 5 year old. I told him to ask his father – also melon domed. LOL!
My Sweet Boy calls his noggin’ his “ponkin”… (pumpkin)and when he has trouble poking his head through his shirt he loudly informs me that he needs his “ponkin cut”. His hair tends to grow thick also… : )
I have an Ike, too. Sometimes he’s Isaac. Sometimes he’s Cletus. But he always asks a lot of questions, too. Your’s is adorable.
