Please help me. I’m working on a horse story….
and a flower story.
I can’t seem to finish either of them. What do you want first? Please advise. I’ll just sit right here by my computer until you tell me. Paralyzed, can’t move. Please help. Fingers poised and ready to type. Horse. Flower. Horse. Flower. Can’t decide.
It doesn’t help that I live with this goof ball. His advice, “Just get them done and post already!” I know. He’s brilliant. Please tell Clay that his hat does NOT make him look like a rancher. Ever since he met Marlboro Man he thinks every hat he puts on his head makes him look like a rancher. Sigh

Write about the flowers first. I grew up in Illinois surrounded by peonies in the spring and miss them so much. Up here in northern MN they don’t bloom until well into June and are few and far between.
I know I’m late weighing in on the pronunciation of peony but I believe in England they take another slant on it: pee-OH-knee. Go figure.
Please tell Clay NOT to grow a beard. He’s so handsome without it. Why cover up a face like that? (He can wear whatever hat he wants.)

And be happy he hasn’t picked an even worse hat : my friend wears an old-man-fishing-bucket-hat everywhere we go even though he is not an old man and we are not fishing. sigh… boys…
Horse…flower…horse…flower. I couldn’t decide either. The hat is a bit dorky, but it’s also a bit sexy. Hmmmmm…you’re not the only one having a hard time making up your mind.
I’d have to go with the horse story. Since living, breathing, moving creatures are way more interesting than flowers.
That hat qualifies as a fishing hat in my neck of the woods. Aren’t ranchers supposed to wear cowboy hats? Clay needs a John Deere hat.

Alright, I’ll say horse as well. Our neighbors just moved theirs to the summer pasture, so we’re missing our daily horse fix.
Clay…oh Clay. That hat is for fly-fisherman. Not Ranchers. And you’re not ranchers anyway. You’re farmers. So you either need a ball cap featuring either John Deere or some seed company, or you need a straw hat.
I don’t think that’s quite a fishing hat, though it could be used for one. It looks more like a goofy camper hat to me, although it could be military issue, in which case it is a boonie hat(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boonie_hat) , but still a little goofy. Maybe I’m just bitter because they look particularly silly on me. Clay ROCKS goofy, though, so I think this hat looks perfect on him.
Now to answer your question, I want to know more about that cute little foal. I’ll pretty much take anything you’ve got, though, even chicken spoinking and cherry pies.

I vote for horse story. I am intrigued by the Sonic drink, though. We just got a Sonic in St. Paul about a year ago. I’ve been by it a few times, but the line always looks too long so I go elsewhere…must be worth the wait.
I cracked up when I read Mindee’s response that Clay’s hat makes him look like a 3 yr old at the beach. I think he just looks like a hiker.
Two unrelated notes. Last night we were eating at a local Chinese food place. My 8 yr old son looks at me eating my chicken and says, “SPOINK!” and then I was done eating my chicken. I should have NEVER told him that story….WHEN WILL I LEARN??!!!
Also, thanks so much for posting your Dave/Damn Ramsey stories. You’ve inspired me to get my act together. My husband and I took the Financial Peace University course last winter and it was FANTASTIC. Very motivating and common sense. I read your living without posts yesterday and it lit a fire under my procrastinating b*tt. The colt looks really cute – name it Peony. And maybe he could pass for a rancher in Australia – the hat has a bit of an Aussie look – which PW and MM went to Australia for their honey moon and MM is a rancher – so by a twisty turny route it connects back to being a rancher – see? My husband has about 6 of those hats that he gets from army navy surplus. He wants to look like an army guy…
I think if he can put a saddle on one of those pigs and ride then he can wear any hat he wants and we’ll all call him a rancher! oh, and I think the flower story!

BUT, your husband is cute and I’d love to be neighbors with you. We didn’t get chickens this year because we are doing an addition. Never did any regular butchering either. Only when we had too many roosters. Love the eggs.
