I know this is an old post, but I just discovered your blog yesterday and have been exploring. You were so brave for posting this story! I grew up on a farm and now share a hobby farm with my farm boy husband. He keeps trying to talk me into getting a cow to raise and butcher, but I am struggling with the idea of getting too attached. But I do eat meat, so it is probably best to face the reality. Thanks for being so honest!

I grew up on a cattle farm. We gave nice names to the girls because they were not used for food. If I named a steer (boy) I would name it something like Sir Loin or Wellington. That way it would always remind me not to get too attached to the ones that we would be eating.
