I have had chickens for about 3 or 4 years now and I love it. I stretad hatching chickens for my first grade class and one year hatched a batch of 5 bantams that were so cute that I told my husband to get ready to build a chicken coop I'm keeping these. Each year I have added a few to the flock and have enough that we never have to buy eggs and I can provide some for friends. I love keeping chickens and only dream about having a farm. I enjoyed your blog nice pictures.

I know exactly how you feel about a jealous roaster. I have been working on farms since I was 14 and have been kicked, butted, stepped on, run through, pooped on, buried under all sorts of falling things, and the only thing I ever feared was a little 8 pound roaster named Tyson. That little punk would never let me in the chicken coop, and when he was out he would never go back in. It was like a chess match to try to put the chickens back in the house. Luckily for me Tyson met his demise while fighting off raccoons that pulled all the latches off the chicken door one night. He must have put a great fight, but I was still happy he would not bother me again.
