The Happiest Dog in the World

I’ve never known a dog like Preacher. He plays with everything. And I do mean everything! I’ll look outside and he’ll be coming out of the cornfield with a four foot cornstalk in his mouth. He’ll drag that stalk around until he gets tired and then he’ll jump up on the trampoline and do a few flips…not really, but he probably could.
He loves to play with the swing. He loves to play soccer. He loves to chase our neighbors cattle. He loves to slosh around in water. He loves life.
But, mostly he loves to torment the chickens and the barn cats. We are certain that there is a little bit of herding dog in Preacher. He keeps his flock of chickens in check and makes sure the barn cats are never where they shouldn’t be, like outside the barn. Poor things haven’t seen the light of day for months thanks to Preacher.
So far, the chickens are protected from our over zealous pup by our “Heitschmidtized” enclosure. Did you know all you need to build a mini chicken coop are two tires, some old wood, two doors and some chicken wire? It’s true.
And it works perfectly fine. Preacher agrees.

We shoot dogs for chasing cattle and horses around here. I’m surprised the neighbors with the cows allow him to chase them.

Preacher has gotten so big. How old is he now? And those poor chickens. It will be interesting to see how they deal with him as they get older and bigger.

Donna- Preacher runs around the cows while they are lying down. The cows don’t move…or moo. He also spends a lot of time barking at them to make sure they know he’s their. I’m sure if he harmed one I’d be the first to know.

Jean- He’s full grown, but not a year old yet, I think he was born sometime last summer.

Oh my how that dog has grown! He’s certainly living the life all dogs should.

My former dog, Mandy, had a game she played with an Arabian gelding who lived here at the time; they took turns chasing one another.

Oh my! All this talk about shootings and blood from a simple post about your dog! He sounds wonderful to me and I would be happy for him to run around with my dogs any time. :)

He is the cutest dog…I love what you say…”He loves life”. Well I don’t know if you have one, but we just used our cows water trough for the chicks. Fast and easy and when they started flying around we just put chicken wire with a board on top to hold it down. Now I wish I would have taken a picture of it because it looked like the hillbillies we are. I do like the tire idea but I won’t tell my husband because the next thing you know we will be living in one.
