I read with interest your dog's name. There cannot be too many in the whole of the world with that name. We live in Scotland (45 miles from Edinburgh in the countryside) and name our two and a half year old German Shepherd Preacher. My late father was a Theologian and taught at Duke University for 10 years and preached over his lifetime throughout the USA. It seemed an apt choice of name. It does cause some curiousity and some raised eyebrows when people enquire after our dog's name and they generally just say "Oh, brilliant name" All the best to you from Bonnie Scotland.

LOL! Preacher is a great name for a dog!

Dh once rescued two puppies off the side of a country road. They were brother and sister and someone had tied them up in garbage bags and tossed them out in the country. They were trying to chew their way out when dh found them. He brought them home and we named them Ivan and Ho(e). You should always give a dog a name to live up to though. Ho lived up to hers and ran off with one of the neighbor dogs never to be seen again. Preacher is a much better name to live up to!
